Great for adults
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to get my own Lego set instead of a kids set. This set didn’t disappoint. The instructions are easy to follow and the parts are separated in numbered bags. I love that you can either have a green leave bonsai or pink flowers. I chose pink but it will be simple to change it to green when I want. This set took me about 2 hours to construct with interruptions. I do help put Lego together regularly with my kids so I have experience. And the best thing yet, the tool this set comes with to separate pieces put together incorrectly is a life saver. First set I’ve ever had it come with. I will be buying more of these adult sets. This tree looks so pretty on my dresser.

FROGS!
Frogs. FROGS!! 100 PINK FROGS!!?? Who would have expected an invasion of pink frogs in a Bonsai tree?? Interesting use of a specific piece that. The result is visually stunning but not realistic. I am considering ordering 100 or more 1x1 round pink/purple flowers to replace the FROGS. All in all this is a great LEGO set and, yes, I do highly recommend it. My biggest complaint is the black pages in the instruction book. It is nearly impossible to see some of the dark pieces (also a problem with the flower bouquet book) particularly brown and green. This caused some back-tracking to re-do things that didn't look right.
Well worth the money. Thanks, LEGO for fresh ideas!

I love my new Bonsai!
I really enjoy this Lego Kit, and the colors are wonderful! I just have one negative feedback and it regards to the instructions manual….the printing manual is very dark and it is not easy to understand in the manual and specifically regarding the dark brown pieces, exactly where to put it in the LEGO…. It is not my first LEGO kit but is the first one that in manual the pieces don’t have any border… my recommendation to print in a lighter colour the manual or to add a black border to the pieces in the manual… otherwise we need to guess exactly where to add the pieces namely in bonsai trunk

Clever, beautiful, and just plain fun
Built this as a gift with a friend who was never into legos before (but has killed many a plant)... not only did she love the idea, but she spent the entire build grinning ear to ear as each piece was placed, and rushed to find a place to display it.
The bonsai tree makes very clever use of (mostly common) pieces to create an organic feel. I would not have guessed this would be possible using Legos at all, but the attention to detail shines in every segment. Make sure to read to the end of the instructions, because the "alternate tree ideas" are downright hilarious.
Just the right price, a joy to build, and earns pride of place in display. Very well done!

Tree of Life
Why Tree of Life I call it? Well, it will never die, it's made of Legos ha. It's a great display and decoration. The only small annoyance is that some of the dark brown pieces are hard to see on the instructions. The other issue was the green leaves. It's so green at the top that you have to look carefully at the book if you want to put them on the right spot, even then, it's hard. I did as much as I could and eventually just balanced it out evenly, made it look reasonable and good. It's a great set and it's unique in a way where you don't see sets like these made often, I hope it's the start of something new.

Lovely but fragile
This set is gorgeous and fun to build/ play with. However, the trunk isn’t very stable and falls apart when you try to put the branches on or change them out. I seem to have fixed some of this by removing a root and moving a sloped curve piece up to help better secure the trunk. However it was sad to give up the look of the root and leave two studs at the bottom of the model uncovered. However, the side pieces continue to fall off easily. Still a gorgeous set, but I am amazed this passed internal stability testing.
Do mirror some of the other comments on reviews. Some panels are dark and hard to read. Also found it easiest to mass produce leaf assemblies then attach them to the armatures.

Great for fans of Lego and bonsai
As a bonsai enthusiast, I had to buy this on day one. It was very fun and relaxing to put together, and unlike my other trees, very easy to care for! Both versions look great and I plan to switch them out as the seasons change.
After following the instructions, I created my own version to create a better, more realistic bonsai shape.

A Beautiful Ornamental Piece
I bought this bonsai build during a week off work as an activity that didn't involve a screen. It is perfect for that.
It took me one evening and one morning to complete. The trunk is the hardest part to get right but it's satisfying when you get it done. I also appreciate how clever the shape of the branches are, it genuinely looks like a little tree.
I chose the pink frog cherry blossom version as I find the frogs adorable and I love blossom. I also made the bottom stand which honestly completes the authenticity of the look.
It now has pride of place on my at home desk.
